Dating and Matchmaking History
Dating and Matchmaking has a long history. Routs go back to medieval times as people groups who usually marry natives only have been scattered through i.e. East Europe, India etc… The Matchmaker connected families and negotiated no marriages. Personals or from India Shaadi.com. Further sites are Meetic, an online dating portal from France and Neu.de, DatingWalk and FriendScout24 from Germany. A special matchmaking system based on various personality analyses have been introduced by Match.com, eHarmoey, Match.com, PerfectMatch.com, Matchmaker.com and Parship (Germany). As a next step special sites have been launched like for Religious groups: Catholic Mingle, ChristianCafe.com, BigChurch.com, ChristianMingle.com, SingleC, Single Christian Net, JDate, Jewish; for status orientated groups: MillionaireMatch.com, MillionaireMate.com, WealthyMen.com; for country, territories or ethnic groups: BlackSingles.com, RussianEuro, Canadian Personals, Plentyoffish, UAladies Indian FriendFinder, ThaiCupid, LatinAmericaCupid, FilipinoCupid; 50+ and senior sites: Senior FriendFinder, SeniorMatch.com; Single parents: Single Parent LoveLife, Single, Parents Mingle. Another system are mail order bride services where members have to pay by letters like Anastasia International (linked with many small Russian agencies) or Interfriendship.
Such online dating sites belong to so called social networks. Beside such online dating agencies there are social platforms like MySpace, facebook, studiVZ, or networks for professionals like LinkedIn and Xing. Popular became also sites that help to find old friends and classmates like Classmates.com, trombi.com (France), StayFriends (Germany), Odnoklassniki.ru (Одноклассники.ru, Russia) etc. Internet as a worldwide network allows people to connect all over the world just from your desk at home.
